ATHENA CHRISTOFALOS represents school districts, park districts, and municipalities in all areas of law, with a concentration in labor, personnel, and employment discrimination matters. Ms. Christofalos has had extensive experience practicing in these areas and representing clients in litigation before federal and state courts and administrative agencies. She also has had experience in representing clients in student and special education matters.
Ms. Christofalos is a frequent lecturer in both labor/personnel/employment discrimination and special education/student matters. She is the co-author of The Impact of Special Education Law on Extracurricular Student Activities, a publication of the NSBA Council of School Attorneys. She has previously served on the Illinois State Bar Association's Education Law Council where she reviewed legal issues of significance to Illinois school districts and the legal community.
Ms. Christofalos graduated from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English. She received her law degree with honors from Chicago-Kent College of Law. In law school, she served as a member of the Moot Court Honor Society.
