THERESE L. HODGES concentrates her practice in school and public sector labor law. Her primary interests include board governance and policy, public employee personnel issues (including evaluation, supervision and dismissal), collective bargaining and contract implementation, and student rights. Ms. Hodges is a frequent lecturer throughout Illinois on personnel and labor issues and speaks nationally at conventions for school administrators and attorneys. She co-authored a publication for the Illinois Association of School Boards entitled, Superintendents' Multiyear Performance Contracts: A "How To" Guide and for the National School Board Association entitled, Understanding and Limiting School Board Member Liability. She also served as the President of the Illinois Council of School Attorneys, on a subcommittee of the Governor's Commission on Recodification of the School Code, and on the DuPage Regional Office of Education School Safety Task Force. Ms. Hodges regularly teaches school law courses for the graduate school of education at North Central College and has also taught for Loyola University and DePaul University. Ms. Hodges recently concluded two terms as an elected member of the Board of Education of Gower School District No. 62, DuPage County, serving as its board president for five and a half years and then as the board secretary. Ms. Hodges graduated magna cum laude from MacMurray College and received her law degree in 1977 from the University of Illinois, where she served as an editor of the Law Forum. She received a Master of Arts in Education degree from Lewis University in 2004. |
